A film distributor is company or individual who releases a movie to the public either theatrically or for home viewing (DVD, Video-On-Demand, Download, Television programs through broadcast syndication etc.). A distributor may do this directly (if the distributor owns the theaters or film distribution networks) or through theatrical exhibitors and other sub-distributors.

Our film would need an independant film distributor because it is a low budget film.
Ir we had the choice a real film distributor we might have chosen to use is 'Hammer film productions' as it specialises in our genre; horror.

Some examples of small budget films from our genre which have become successful are 'Paranormal Activity', 'Last House On The Left' and 'Night Of The Living Dead'.

We would expect our film to go to a multiplex cinema because it is for a mainstream target audience.

We would advertise our film on tv adverts after 9pm because our target audience is females under the age of 35 and males under the age of 35 and this is when they are most likely to watch tv. Also we would advertise on youtube and on social networks because they are popular with our target audience.
